"Coping with anxiety and panic is a personal journey that involves finding balance and grounding through peaceful activities. Nature is a key part of my process, offering moments of calm through outdoor activities like hiking or being near or in water. Art also serves as a powerful emotional outlet, giving me a sense of purpose when overwhelmed. I limit social media to avoid stress and use mindfulness practices along with prayer, intentionally making space to create art, or to learn something new in an effort to find calm. – Stress is a normal part of life, but anxiety, fear, and panic can unexpectedly disrupt routines and stifle creativity, making it hard to focus.
For those who thrive on imagination, these emotions can cloud inspiration. However, they also teach resilience. To cope, I reconnect with nature or create art, finding calm and peace. Recognizing stress is key, and by practicing mindfulness, taking breaks, and embracing creativity, I navigate these emotions. Though anxiety & fear can be disruptive, coupled with my faith, these feelings can offer opportunities for growth and have become part of my journey of self-discovery.
Inspired by Walt Whitman’s quote, *“Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you,” my work encapsulates the artist’s belief in the power of resilience. It serves as a reminder that, while life can be filled with daunting challenges, it is possible to confront our fears, find strength in the light, and lean on faith to overcome adversity. The radiant light is not just a symbol of hope but a daily reminder that, no matter how dark the moment may seem, the sun will rise again."
"The ability to follow your dreams is vital for mental health because it provides a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and direction in life. not only does it encourage personal growth, resilience, and self-discovery; it also empowers people to set meaningful goals, contributing to a sense of accomplishment and boosting self-esteem. It helps build confidence, reinforces a belief in one’s abilities, and fosters creativity and problem-solving skills, all of which are crucial for mental well-being. Engaging in the pursuit of dreams can provide an emotional outlet, reduce stress, and serve as a healthy coping mechanism during difficult times.
My work captures the serene moment of a young boy immersed in his own mental dreamland, where imagination knows no bounds. As he drifts into sleep, his thoughts transform into a cosmic dance of vibrant colors and celestial shapes, symbolizing his positive visions for the future. The painting invites viewers to step into this imaginative space, where the beauty of the unknown is met with a deep sense of gratitude for the present moment.

While social media can be all-consuming, stepping outside, touching grass, and spending time in nature can unleash imagination and creativity. "Touching Grass and Dreaming Big" reflects how I disconnect and find solace in nature. In our digital-dependent, stressful world, nature provides the best medicine for the soul.
