34 Gallery Poet: Echo Remembrance

ART SUBMISSION: "Pray for Grace"

I  submitted 3 poems with the following titles:

  • Tell Me About Yourself
  • Please Watch
  • What do you see.

This is the first time presenting my poetic pieces. The journey of creating these poems was really a rough one because it took a lot of meditation and self-reflection. I had to journey into the deepest and darkest moments of my life when I felt most prone to taking my own life. I believe these poems I have created dive into the theme fortitude in many aspects because even after having so much negativity inside I still wanted to cling on to life.

From 2019 to 2023, I faced my worst years at an all-boys high school where I experienced emotional harassment and felt unappreciated. In 2020, I had contracted Covid 19 twice and was under quarantine for several weeks. From 2022, I was almost expelled from school because of rumors, and I honestly didn’t want to continue living anymore

But through God, none of those circumstances ever won. At every moment of those situations, God did not want me to quit.  I bounced back every time. So, I hope with these poems speak on behalf of most of the experiences I faced in my teenage years and the ideal image of fortitude we seek."
