“This piece I created, reflects on the idea behind the butterfly, in the afterlife. I always believed how the butterfly brought solace, how it brought comfort to those in mourning, and continue to believe, to this day.
We are expected to grieve shortly, and be our own "happy" selves within weeks. Many people say things like, "get over it" or "They died last year! That's enough time," etc. It's quite harsh and cold for people to think we can mourn and move on with our lives in such a short time.
In many cases, our mourning has to fit their timeline. If we mourn for six months, we are expected to stop mourning because we are "making them feel bad." It's awful, what people do to others, during the mourning process.”
“Through therapy, I've learned to recognize the triggers, and try to ground myself. I have to become cognizant of everything around me, and slowly breathe. It's not a perfect technique, but at least I can go to the stores without trying to run out the front door. At home, my art shows the true torment of my mind. It's rare when I can do a happy piece, because I don't feel it in me. However, doing my AI art, whether it's music, video, pics, or a combination, helps me through whatever I'm feeling.
Depression, panic attacks, and anxiety have been old friends since my younger days. It's been an internal fight, with thoughts of ending it all. It's because I'm tired of fighting within myself. I do my best to not show that side to my loved ones, because they don't need to see that side of me. Yes, my loved ones know what I have, and what techniques I use to help center myself. My boyfriend knows when something is wrong, and he will help me through the issue. He's been my rock. ”
